I noticed something when I was working on Velindar's Lyre.  I started to procrastinate.  I really do love to write, but when I tried to force myself to write on a set schedule each week, I inevitably ended up not writing when I was supposed to.  This was easily seen in both the quality and timing of the work I did, and I was simply not happy with the results.

So, I have placed the world of Velindar's Lyre on hold.  I feel like I learned a few lessons from the writing I did, and that those lessons will help me to write a better story both in the future should I return to Velindar's Lyre, and in other things.

Now, however, I don't want to announce a complete stop of writing here.  I know it has been a while, but I have been working on a few things, most notably I am working on pre-scripting a storyline to make a new story here.  Since I have some of it done, I will pre-announce the intent (more information to come as I get more work done.)  The new story is:  Fouran.

It is named after the main character.  I will give a little teaser of the character here:

Meet Fouran.  He's a fourteen year old boy, a little on the tall side, brown hair, hazel eyes, and a little problem.  He

spontaneously combusts... without any control.  There is no warning, no pattern, and no set length of combustion.  At

least he doesn't burn in fire, although that in itself is a little odd.  As you can imagine, Fouran lives an odd life.  He

can't do the things most people do, because if he lived like most people he would burn down the places he visited.

Fouran has to live in buildings made of stone, with proper ventilation to let the smoke out.  He could melt or burn most

dinnerware, so he has to use steel utensils, plates, and bowls.  He would burn his clothes off, so he has a special

outfit that won't burn.  It looks really dorky.  He doesn't like it.  Everything combines to make him a social outcast.
Fouran might be a little bitter, but he's a nice person deep down.  He envies the people who live a normal life. Yet, he

can't help but feel annoyed and hurt as they continue to degrade him, just because he is different.  Even his parents

have forsaken him.  Fouran, however, has a dream.  He hopes that one day he will find a way to control or stop his tendency to burst into flames.  He doesn't know if it can ever happen, but if anyone thinks they can stop him from trying... well, when you play with fire you get burned!

For those who are curious, Fouran is derived from Mandarin.  Fou means not, and ran means combust (inflection marks not shown!)

I will update the site once more when I am ready to divulge more information, such as a first post!
